Just kinda looking back… the Texans actually didn’t do too bad in the draft. Top CB & S to help start building the base for their secondary… a top OL & higher rated WR for Mills. A LB & RB in the 3rd round to start getting the important, but abundant with players, positions filled.
Those are all the points I’d try to address in an off-season if I’d taken the reins.
I’d be so bold to say… they kinda remind me of the Chargers in the years right before they picked up Rivers and became a powerhouse. Drafting well, laying the foundation, building a machine/system. So that when they stumble upon the right parts… BOOM!!!
But by no means do I think they’ll sneak their way into the playoffs. These kinds of things take time. But if Houston can get past all the “Watson stuff” rather quickly and put some distance between them and that… they should be pretty well set up in a few years to make some serious runs.
