In a VERY rare occurrence, I (Gabe) was able to actually sit down in front of the TV for four hours and watch a wrestling event all the way through (that wasn’t an Arizona Wrestling Federation event, of course) - and LIVE at that! Here are 3 things that I was particularly fond of, from the first night’s card!
That Miz Turn On Logan Paul!
The match was solid, a nice tag match. Two generations of Mysterios competing side-by-side and all the Eddie Guerrero nods that that comes with. But ultimately, the Miz turning on Paul at the end was certainly my cup of tea.
Bianca Belair vs Becky Lynch!
Solid, inoffensive, not the most polished at times… but great intensity and heart. They kept the crowd with them the whole way. As just as I tweeted during the event, the WWE universe sure does love Belair.
That Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Kevin Owens Match!
What a walk down memory lane! And who better to lead us down the road than KO? This was by far my favorite match of the night! From the opening video package with WWF Attitude era highlights, to the “conversation” to KO proclaiming himself a “sophisticated, distinguished, French Canadian”.
The only thing I wish I would have done was keep count of the Steveweisers that Austin downed throughout the match. First match in Dallas, last match in Dallas. Fantastic.
Honorary mention: Happy Corbin vs Drew McIntyre
I love what McIntyre has become; I love the colorful shirts… it wasn’t a show stopper, but I definitely felt this match was solid and consistent from beginning to end. And Corbin’s End of Days looks so BRUTAL!
