In week 1, the defending CFL Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 27-12.
The Alouettes played a skilled game on defense and held things in check on special teams. Cody Fajardo (#7) connected to Tyson Philpot (#6) twice for receiving TDs. The running game was solid enough to compliment Fajardo’s solid passing attack. Montreal looked like the total package, coming out of week 1.
The Blue Bombers didn’t seem to have everything clicking through the first 3 quarters of the game. The Montreal defense seemed to keep them off of their rhythm. By the time Winnipeg scored their first- and only- touchdown of the contest, they seemed to start coming together as an offensive unit. It was just too little, too late.
